Back on August 9, 2003 during the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Conference Awards Weekend, we did the first party EVER with Kanye West in Miami. We made it a Roc-A-Fella Records Party with JAY Z and Dame Dash on the flyer adding the little known Kanye West as the host. It ended up being a really successful event and overall great look for the weekend.

So much has changed since this party, back then Kanye wasn’t the Kanye we know today and as a brand we were a lot less experienced. If we could’ve changed some things that night, we would’ve took a bunch of photos and videos for the archives and tried to have much more dialogue with Kanye. Mike Gardner personally drove Kanye West to the airport the next day and got a chance to chop it up with him a bit.
